     Calorie is the unit of heat energy.One calorie is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one gram of water through one degree centigrade.

where 
       M = Mass of the body in gm
       S = Specific heat of the body
       t = Change of temperature

1 calorie = 4. 86 Joules
