    The kilowatt-hour (symbolized kW⋅h) is a unit of energy equivalent to one kilowatt (1 kW) of power sustained for one hour. One watt is equal to 1 J/s. 

Formulas :

    Wh = watts * Time


   kwh = watts * time
                    1000

   kwh = kw * Time 


  kwh = 1000watts * 1 hours 


Example :

    What is the energy consumption in kwh when the power consumption in 7500 watts for the time 

duration of 9 Hrs.

Given Data :

   watts = 7500

    Duration = 9 hrs

Formula :

  kwh = watts * Time 
                   1000
       
          = 7500* 9
               1000

         = 67.5 kwh

Formula 


    KWH = watts (P) * time(T)
                           1000

   KWH = P * T 
                 1000

KWH = 1kw * 1 hr


Example  :
   
   a large ran motor rated at 4400 watts and you use it 5 hrs. a day to find consumed kwh /month.

Formula


KWH = P * T 
                 1000

Ans :
   
     Wattage = 4400

Usage per day  = 5 hrs
                     
                         = P * T
                             1000

                         = 4400* 5 
                              1000

                         = 22000
                              1000
                   
                         = 22 kw per day
Monthly

                         = 22kwh * 30 days

                         = 660 units per month

                 1000

KW =  Watts 
             1000
Example :

    A large fan motor rated at 8 amps and operated at 220 v, 0.8 power factor leading to find kw.

Formula :

   KW = V * I * COS0
                    1000

Answer :

    KW = V * I * COS0
                    1000

            = 220 * 8 * 0.8 
                     1000

            = 1.4 kw

      =  420 * 25   
             1000       
      

     = 10.5 kva

Example :

     To find watts in single phase electric heater  having 3.2 amps and operating  at 230 V ,0.8 power factor .

Formula :

Watts(P) = V * I *P.F

               = 230 * 3.2 * 0.8

          P   = 588 watts

Example:

I = 60W / 12V

I = 5A

2. Single phase voltage


I = P / (PF × V )

Example:
P = 920
P.F = 0.8
V = 230

I = 920W / ( 0.8 PF × 230V )

I = 5A

3. Three phase voltage


I = P / ( √3   × PF  × V )

Example:

I = 2875.12 / ( √3 × 0.8PF ×415 V )

I = 2875.12 / 575.024

I = 5A

P 12V  × 5A      = 60W

P = R  ×  I2

R = P /  I2  

R = 60W /   52   = 2.4

P = 2.4  × 52   = 60W

P= E2 × R

P = 12 / 2.4      = 60W



 2. Single phase voltage



P = PF × I × V

Example:

P = 0.8PF × 5A × 230V

P = 920W

3. Three phase voltage

P = 3 × PF × A × V

Example:

P = 3 ×0.8 PF ×5A ×415V
